The Eagles were excited to have the opportunity to pry LB Corey Nelson away from the Denver Broncos this offseason but have decided to cut him after a poor showing in the preseason.
Nelson came in on a one-year deal worth $1.6 million in hopes of staying healthy and proving he belonged in the NFL. Through 3 preseason games, Nelson recorded just 3 tackles on a total of 92 plays and 54 defensive snaps.
The veteran slid down the depth chart after an unimpressive camp and will now be looking for a new home.
As reported earlier, the Eagles will save $1 million in cap space and likely gain a 2019 6th-round compensation draft pick. The team has one game remaining before they need to slim the roster down to 53 before taking on the Falcons on September 6th.
