Eagles close out Jaguars, win 24-18 to improve to 4-4

The Eagles were able to go blow-for-blow in the second half of their first game in London to down the Jaguars 24-18 and get back on the winning track. The Eagles now stand at 4-4 headed into the bye week.

Both teams came in struggling not only on the field, but off the field with major injuries which only got worse in this tough matchup. The Eagles came out with a lack of energy but were able to overcome the jetlag with a spark from rookie cornerback Avonte Maddox.

Maddox caused a fumble right before the end of the first half that lead to a 32-yard pass from Carson Wentz to rookie Dallas Goedert that but the Eagles ahead 10-6. They would never lose the lead after that point.

Wentz added two more touchdowns to Wendell Smallwood and Zach Ertz in the second half to lead the Eagles to victory. Josh Adams lead the team with 61 rushing yards while averaging 6.8 yards per carry. Smallwood was able to seal the victory with a late run that moved the chains, sending the Eagles to formation victory.

Jordan Matthews led all receivers with 93 yards while Jordan Hicks lead all tacklers with 12, eight solo. Malcolm Jenkins also had a fantastic pass deflection that forced the Jaguars to settle for a field goal late in the fourth quarter.

The win did come at a price, however, as right tackle Lane Johnson is said to have suffered an MCL sprain. Both Jason Peters and Jalen Mills also were sidelined with injuries, Mill did not return due to a foot injury. Rasul Douglas filled in nicely.

Wentz spent a lot of time moving around with pressure in his face today but finished 21/30 for 286 yards and three touchdowns (119.6 QB Rating). He did have a fumble and red zone interception on the first two possessions but bounced back nicely.

The Eagles now head into the bye week banged up, but with an even record and still in the hunt. They will play the Cowboys in week 10 on Sunday Night Football following the bye.
