PHILADELPHIA, PA –
Nick Foles leads the Eagles in rhythm to a stunning seven-point victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football.
The Eagles entered their week 15 matchup with the Rams(11-2) as a 13-point underdog, the largest deficit set for any Super Bowl team in their following season. Philadelphia stays alive in the playoff hunt after improving to 7-7.
Quarterback Nick Foles connected on multiple shots down the field throughout the and relied on the running game in addition to a defense that created havoc all night. Wendell Smallwood rushed for two touchdowns and Josh Adams added another as the Eagles took over in the third quarter, outscoring LA 17-0 out of the half.
Alshon Jeffery was a major factor in the offense, hauling in all eight of his targets for 160 yards while the defense forced three turnovers and put pressure on Goff throughout the night. The offense won the time of possession game and ran the ball 30 times as well.
The offensive line neutralized the interior pass rush of Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh for most of the night and took advantage of great field position throughout the night.
This win gives the Eagles great confidence as they head home for a week 16 matchup with the Texans. As of now, the Eagles remain in the hunt of a playoff spot trailing the Minnesota Vikings. The Panthers plays the Saints tomorrow.
To win the NFC East, they need two wins and two Cowboys losses. However, the likelier scenario is for both the Vikings or the Panthers to lose one remaining game, and for the Eagles to win out. With this win, the Eagles playoff chances have increased to 39%.
More to come.
