LANDOVER, MD –
It’s do or die time for the Eagles who need a victory and some help to make another playoff run. The Redskins will be looking to play spoiler to Eagles playoff hopes and finish their season on a high note. Here’s what to watch for in this NFC East matchup:
1 – Darren Sproles: Sproles has been exactly what the Eagles have needed to make a playoff push. He has been a dynamic playmaker who can quickly create explosive plays. His leadership and talent have helped the Eagles offense blossom recently. Look for Sproles to catalyze the Eagles offense.
2 – St. Nick Foles: Foles has been the Christmas present every Eagles fan has been hoping for this season. He has won back-to-back games against two powerhouse teams to keep the Eagles playoff hopes alive. After setting an Eagles record for most passing yards in a game (471) last week, Foles will look to build upon his success against a weakened Redskins defense.
3 – Eagles wide receivers: Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor have blossomed over the last two games. Their excellent performances have elevated the offense and have led the Eagles to two crucial victories. The Eagles will look to keep up the deep threat and consistency in the passing game moving forward.
4 – Getting after Josh Johnson: Johnson has not thrown for over 200 yards in any of the games he has started and has only thrown three touchdowns and three interceptions. The Eagles need to get pressure on Johnson and force him to create plays. He has not had much success this season and the Eagles need to make his life miserable from the beginning.
5 – Eliminate the Redskins run: Adrian Peterson has turned back time and is performing at an elite level. He is coming off a 119-yard performance and the Eagles need to eliminate his ability. He ran for 98 yards and touchdown in the earlier meeting with the Eagles and he will be the main weapon in the Redskins arsenal.
Bonus: Scoreboard watching – The Eagles need the Bears to defeat the Vikings and win in order to claim the final playoff spot.
