Eagles vs. Saints: Week 11 Preview

The Eagles travel to Louisiana for a showdown with the Saints that appears anything but “Big Easy”. Winners of seven straight games, the Saints are looking to continue their winning ways while the Eagles are looking to pull off the upset and salvage their season.  Here’s what to watch tonight:

1 – The Quarterback Play

Drew Breesus vs. Ginger Jesus. Both of these quarterbacks are having a better statistical 2018 season, especially in accuracy. Brees is currently completing 77.3 percent of his passes while Wentz is completing 71 percent. The offensive weaponry on both teams should be fun to watch today, especially with such great distributors under center.

2 – Michael Thomas magical connection

The Saints are licking their chops staring down a banged up secondary for the Eagles. Michael Thomas and Drew Brees have connected on 78 of 87 targets this season (89.7%). Thomas has caught 38 receptions over the last three games, three touchdowns, and is averaging 133 yards per game in that span. In fact, he and Brees have only misconnected on two of 40 targets over the last three weeks.

3 – A fast start

The Eagles are averaging just over 2 points in the first quarter this season after scoring 21 points in the first fifteen minutes of each game this year. A fast start will be a must this week in order to hang with the top offense in the league. The Eagles need to be precise in play calling and execution on both sides of the ball today in order to pull off the upset. Red zone will be a key place for the Eagles to convert against the 28th-ranked defense inside the 20-yard line.

4 – Lane Johnson and the Running game

Lane Johnson will make his return to the line up as he continues to heal up from a knee sprain. The Eagles will look for more production out the backfield and could come out with a more even attack. Josh Adams was promised more touches this week. He is averaging 5.7 yards per carry this season, although it has been a small sample size.
