PHILADELPHIA, PA –

Nick Foles drove the field with under two minutes left to set up a game-winning field goal by Jake Elliott to save the Eagles season as they defeated the Texans 32-30 in South Philadelphia.

The Eagles quarterback put together a heroic effort after taking a helmet to the sternum before leading the offense down the field to cap off a heart-pumping victory. Philadelphia led by 13 with just over 10 minutes left in the game when the Texans put together back-to-back scoring drives led by the magic of DeShaun Watson. Houston took the lead with 2:04 remaining before the Eagles drove 55 yards to set up the game-winner by Elliott.

After a back and forth first half, the Eagles once again dominated the third quarter holding the Texans off the scoreboard to build the lead and almost had the game slipped through their hands but the football gods had other plans.

Foles ended the game with 471 passing yards, an Eagles single-game record, in addition to four touchdowns.

Zach Ertz set the single-season record for most receptions by a Tight End (previously held by Jason Witten – 110) on the first pass of the season half. Ertz led all Eagles with 12 receptions, but Nelson Agholor’s 83-yard touchdown was the longest play of the Eagles season.

Darren Sproles has proven to be the old savvy veteran with the electrical spark the Eagles needed since his return. He ended with 3 receptions for 76 yards and an early touchdown in addition to leading the team with 9 carries.

Neither offense was able to establish a running game as both teams combined for just 119 total rushing yards. However, the defenses created havoc all day long although you could not tell by the final score.

Under the circumstances of no Isaac Seumalo and Jason Petters all but one play in the game, the offensive line did a tremendous job against a fearsome defensive front by allowing just 4 QB hits and one sack.

The Eagles with this win improve to 8-7 with one game remaining as they stay in the playoff hunt for one of the two wildcard spots in the NFC. With the Cowboys winning, the NFC is locked up.

However, if the Eagles win next week combined with a Vikings loss to the Bears, the Eagles can make the playoffs.

More to come.
