ESPN has released their very early 2018 projections for the upcoming season and the experts believe the Eagles will be a top-tier Defense/Special Teams unit in 2018. The Eagles rank just behind the Jacksonville Jaguars in total projected points for 2018 and most of the statistics are similar to that of last year’s regular season.
Heading into 2017, the Eagles were not ranked in ESPN’s Top 200 overall list of 2017, and were listed outside of the top 12 for D/ST. Clearly, that has changed after a dominant performance last year on their magical run to a Super Bowl. Philadelphia finished the regular season with 38 sacks, 14 forced fumbles (11 recovered) 19 interceptions, and six touchdowns. Below are the estimated stats for this year:
- 2018 Position Rank: 2nd Stat Projections: 40 sacks / 13 forced fumbles, 9 recovered / 15 INTs / 3 TDs
It’s pretty obvious the fantasy experts are “bullish” on the Eagles this upcoming season, and how could they not be? We veterans like Chris Long equating 4 forced fumbles in decisive moments of games and a special teams unit that has been solid for years under Dave Fipp’s direction, whats not to love?
With a well-balanced attack on offense and a stellar defense, the Eagles are shaping up to have another successful year under Coach Doug Pederson.
More to come.
