Eagles vs. Buccaneers: Week 2 Predictions

After a hard fought battle in week one, the Eagles had some extra time to relax and prepare for a Tampa team who shocked the NFL with 48 points in the board in “The Big Eazy”. Looking to stay undefeated, can the Birds end the Fitzpatrick hype? Here are the crew’s predictions for the game:

ALEX WHITNEY  (1-0)

The Buccaneers are coming off an upset win over New Orleans where Ryan Fitzpatrick played out of his mind. The Eagles defense is much stronger than the Saints defense so don’t expect Fitzpatrick to put up similar numbers. With the Eagles being able to stop the run, they can afford to drop more players back in coverage to stop the passing attack. I don’t expect Peyton Barber to penetrate the Eagles front line too often. The offense will need to show up. It is imperative that Nick Foles and the Eagles offense find some kind of rhythm. With Darren Sproles out, expect a heavy dose of Ajayi. If the Eagles get their offense rolling, this could be a route.

Final Prediction: Eagles 28, Buccaneers 13

JOE FABIANI  (0-1)

Coming off of last week’s battle of a game the Eagles look to bring the Buccaneers back down to earth after an emotional upset over the Saints. The Eagles defense comes into this matchup with high confidence after shutting down one of the best offenses in the entire league. They had 4 sacks, 9.5 TFL, 1 INT, as well as 15 QB hits. I look for the Eagles defense to make a statement in this game early with a turnover. I don’t believe the Bucs offense will be able to match the intensity from the Eagles defense. However, on offense, I look for the Eagles to be aggressive on the outside as it appears that both Bucs starting corners will be out. Look for Nelson Agholor to have a big impact as well as a bounce-back game from Nick Foles.

Final Prediction: Eagles 24, Buccaneers 13

KEVIN MEANS  (0-1)

The Buccaneers scored 48 points against a disappointing Saints defense and pulled off the upset. That isn’t going to happen this week. No need to send any crazy blitz packages because the Eagles defensive line is going to dominate the Buccaneers and force all kinds of problems. On offense, I expect Nick Foles to continue where he left off last week and slowly improve, keeping the game under control from the start. If we do see playoff Nick Foles though, this game could get out of hand very quickly.

Final Prediction: Eagles 24, Buccaneers 13

TYLER EDGERTON (0-1)

Nick Foles will have to set the tone early against a Tampa defensive line that likes to get upfield. Last week, the Saints used Kamara out of the backfield frequently and he took advantage in space. Watch for the Eagles RBs to do the same with swing routes and draw plays in addition to Foles getting the ball out quickly. The defense may let up a big play or two but I expect them to keep the Bucs in check with their rotational defensive pressure and force two turnovers.

Final Prediction: Eagles 27, Buccaneers 20

TYLER QUILL  (0-1)

The Eagles will look to get their offense rolling in week 2. Tampa Bay enters the game at 1-0 after winning in a shootout against the New Orleans Saints. Ryan Fitzpatrick totaled 412 passing yards and 5 total touchdowns, but the Eagles will be slowing him down. I expect Fitzpatrick to come back to earth after his explosion last week. The Eagles defense will be a force 2-3 turnovers (Sidney Jones gets his first INT) and that will be the difference as the Eagles win by two scores.

Final Prediction: Eagles 31, Buccaneers 21
