This is what we live for. An early-season showdown for control of the NFC East between the Eagles and Cowboys in the primetime slot. A lot is riding on this game for both teams – ending losing streaks, control of the division, and staying undefeated within the east. Here are the crew’s predictions for the game:
Joe Fabiani (4-2)
Tonight is arguably the biggest game between Wentz and Dak to date. Both teams are in desperate need of a statement win. I don’t think anyone expected both teams to be 3-3. Both teams have had injuries at key positions. This game is going to come down to the turnover battle. Dak has made costly mistakes over his last three games. If the Eagles are able to make this team one dimensional they may just be able to get after Dak with their injuries on the offensive line. This Eagles team is best with their backs up against the wall and that’s where they are. I believe they will come together in this one and pull it out late.
Final Prediction: Eagles 27, Cowboys 21
The Eagles and Cowboys are both wildly unpredictable. The Eagles have looked dynamic at times, yet they also have had troubles getting opposing offenses off the field. They had a tremendous win the Packers, but they also have poor losses against the Lions and Falcons. The Cowboys started out hot, but they have greatly fallen off. The Cowboys fired out to 3 straight wins; however, they have now fallen three straight weeks, especially against a poor New York Jets team. I have no idea how this match-up ends. The Cowboys always have a tremendous home-field advantage, but the Eagles are the much better team on paper. This game is a toss-up, but I’ll ride with the Eagles in a major NFC East match-up.
Final Prediction: Eagles 26, Cowboys 24
Tyler Edgerton (2-4)
Dallas week. The trash talk has been flying and the teams are ready. It looks like the Cowboys will be healthier than expected according to reports earlier in the week… at least for the beginning of the game. The result of this game will be on the Eagles defense. Can they shut down yet another premier running back and force the Cowboys to throw? And when that happens, will the secondary put up any fight? I think they will. In order for the Eagles to win, they need to switch it up. Take the ball to start the game and get creative. According to the ESPN Football Power Index, if Philly wins this game, they will have a 77% chance to win the division. This is the start of a run.
Final Prediction: Eagles 24, Cowboys 20
Joey Kapusta (2-4)
It’s Dallas vs Philly… Does anything else need to be said? For your reading pleasure, the answer is yes… The Cowboys slow-played their injury status all week only to behave everyone completely healthy. The Birds are getting back Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby in the secondary, but it remains to be seen what impact they will have. If the Eagles start slow again, this game could get ugly. Coming out strong in the first quarter will decide this one. Which team wants in more? I want the Eagles to prove me wrong and hope they do
Final Prediction: Eagles 26, Cowboys 27
Alex Whitney (2-4)
The Eagles head down to Dallas for an, ugh, Sunday Night Football showdown against the Cowboys. Both teams are coming off disappointing loses and looking to get back on the winning track. The Cowboys haven’t beaten anyone of significance this season and don’t expect that to change tonight. The Eagles are motivated and see this as a must-win. Carson gets the job done.
Final Prediction: Eagles 28, Cowboys 24
