The Eagles come into Sunday on a two-game win streak knocking off to divisional rivals; can they make it a third and reclaim first place in the NFC East? Here are the crew’s predictions for the game:
ALEX WHITNEY (8-4)
The Eagles have won two straight, but are facing a tough matchup in Dallas. The wins over the Giants and the Redskins are great, but they haven’t been convincing. The Giants stopped going to Saquon Barkley and the Redskins were decimated by injuries on the offensive side of the ball. Heading into this game, the Cowboys have won four straight games, including a stunning 13-10 victory over one of the best teams in the league in the Saints last Thursday. In a tough matchup, especially with the extra rest for Dallas. I believe the Eagles will drop this away game in Dallas.
Final Prediction: Eagles 20, Cowboys 24
JOE FABIANI (6-6)
The Eagles head down to Jerry World for a matchup that will shape the rest of their season. Dallas is coming in hot, having won their last four games. The Dallas defense has been dominant so far this season, allowing 18.6 points per game this year. On offense, they have the leagues 6th best rushing attack. The Eagles MUST contain Zeke Elliott if they are coming to win this one. They can’t allow Dallas to establish any flow on offense. Both teams look to control the clock with long, balanced drives. Carson Wentz is due for a statement game. He has taken heavy criticism about his play since his injury. Look for him to come out like a man on a mission.
Final Prediction: Eagles 21, Cowboys 17
Eric Fenstermaker (6-6)
Things did not go well for the Eagles the first time they squared off against the Cowboys. The Eagles were unable to contain Ezekiel Elliot as he rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. The Eagles need to eliminate the run game element for the Cowboys and establish their own. Josh Adams was a non-factor in the first matchup rushing for only 47 yards on seven carries. By getting the rushing attack started quickly, the Eagles will be able to take pressure off Carson Wentz. Look for Wentz to get the ball to Zach Ertz early and often. Ertz had 14 catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns in their first matchup and will once again look to be a prominent piece in the offense. It will take an entire team effort to knock off the Cowboys, who are riding a four-game win streak, but I believe it is a task the Eagles can rise to and accomplish. The Eagles have the fight in them and they know what is at stake; moreover, the team will be inspired and won’t back down. This matchup will prove to be the focal point for the season and hopefully the springboard into playoff position.
Final Prediction: Eagles 27, Cowboys 23
TYLER EDGERTON (5-7)
The extra rest for the Cowboys should work to their advantage while the Monday Night Football game may work against the Eagles who have been struggling all year to find health. The Eagles need to establish a running game quickly and use Carson Wentz best attribute – play action, to counter the speed of the Dallas linebackers. Jim Schwartz will need to pick his spots and get after Dak Prescott, but can also not leave the linebackers one-on-one against Zeke. I believe the Cowboys will get off to a better start, but the must like last season, the Eagles will dominate the final two quarters. The Eagles will win this game and save their season.
Final Prediction: Eagles 23, Cowboys 21
