Eagles vs. Falcons: Week 1 Predictions

The Eagles hit the field for the first time since February 4th and will kick off the 2018 season vs. the Falcons. Atlanta will be carrying the revenge factor from the playoffs while both teams will be looking to start the new campaign on the right foot. Here is the crew’s predictions for the game:

A rematch from last years Divisional Playoffs, this year’s opener is against the Falcons. Similarly to how last year’s game went, I’m predicting a close game with the Eagles squeaking out a win. The Eagles offensive and defensive lines are superior to the Falcons and will prove to be the difference maker. With Michael Bennett joining an already potent line, Matt Ryan won’t be comfortable. If the Eagles can get the running game going, specifically Jay Ajayi, this will open up the play action and help a depleted receiving core get open. My prediction is an Eagles victory on banner night.

Final Prediction: Eagles 24, Falcons 17

The last time we saw these two teams face-off was in the divisional round of the playoffs. That was a battle of a game that came down to a fourth-and-goal stand by the Eagles defense. I believe we could see a similar type of a game today. The Eagles will be without Jeffery, Bradham, Wentz and Hollins. After seeing a lack of consistency from the offense in the preseason; it’s not a shock the Eagles are only a 1 point favorite heading into tonight. I believe the Falcons will be out for revenge. looking to attack the Eagles linebackers, and using their running backs in the passing game. The Eagles defense will have to step up and keep them in this game. It’ll come down to time of possession and the turnover battle. I like the Falcons in a tight one.

Final Prediction: Eagles 13, Falcons 17

The Falcons are coming into Philadelphia looking for revenge on Thursday night. With the majority of the Eagles offensive starters not playing in the pre-season, we could see a very sloppy football game for them. If given the opportunity, Jay Ajayi should have a big game but it’s going to come down to winning the turnover battle and keeping good field position. I think the Falcons come out on top in this one in a low scoring game.

Final Prediction: Eagles 13, Falcons 17

As always, the Linc will be rockin’ and it will truly feel like a playoff atmosphere in week one of the season. However, with the Eagles short-handed on offense in addition to Nigel Bradham missing the game with a suspension, the Falcons offense may be too much to overcome. This game will be a lower scoring affair where the Falcons prevail in sloppy weather. This loss could be a great motivator for the rest of the season.

Final Prediction: Eagles 17, Falcons 20

The Eagles will open the game by unveiling their Super Bowl 52 banner. Unfortunately, this may be the highlight of the night. I expect this to be a well-fought game and a good back and forth between two of the NFC’s elite. However, there seems to be a lot for the Eagles to overcome in Week 1. The game will start with an emotional high and the Eagles need to capitalize on that energy early because the Falcons will be out for revenge. Ultimately the key players missing from injury (Wentz and Jeffery) and Bradham’s one-game suspension will be too much to overcome. I think one big play is the difference in this game and that play will go Atlanta’s way.

Final Prediction: Eagles 17, Falcons 24
