The Eagles look to come out of the quarter poll with a record of 3-1 if they can capture a victory today in Tennessee. Here are the crew’s predictions for the game:
ALEX WHITNEY (2-1)
Both the Eagles and the Titans are coming off big week 3 wins over the Colts and Jaguars respectively. Marcus Mariota has been banged up all year and the Eagles should be able to take advantage of it. If the Titans do not get their running game going, it could be a rough day offensively for them. However, their defense just held the Jags offense to 6 points. The addition of Malcolm Butler has sured up the Titans already stout defensive back core, and Brian Orakpo can still be dominant even at the age of 32. This being said, I believe the Eagles Offense will be too much for them, especially if Alshon Jeffery comes back. The defense should also dominant a less than healthy Titans offense. Eagles 27 Titans 14.
Final Prediction: Eagles 27, Titans 14
JOE FABIANI (1-2)
Heading into this week’s matchup, the Eagles continue to get their playmakers back. Alshon Jeffery is expected to suit up for this first time since the Super Bowl. That is great news for an offense that has sorely missed the big play. They will look to get it going against a Titans defense that is currently only allowing 16.7 points per game. Titans QB Marcus Mariota is still nursing an elbow injury on his throwing arm. The Titans strength on offense is their running game. The Eagles will counter with their league-best rushing defense, only allowing 61.7 yards per game. Dion Lewis could be a factor in the quick passing game for the Titans. I also like Nelson Agholor, I believe he could be used in various roles. The Titans have defended the tight end well so don’t be surprised if Ertz and Goedert are bottled up a bit in this game.
Final Prediction: Eagles 24, Titans 13
KEVIN MEANS (1-2)
The Titans just came out of Jacksonville with a big 9-6 win. Now they get to come home and have their “franchise” quarterback start again. With Mariota’s elbow still on the mend, he’s going to rely on his legs even more than usual. If he breaks a run to the outside like Andrew Luck did last week for 33 yards, there’s a very good chance the Eagles defense will not catch him. Expect Jim Schwartz to bring pressure in the gaps and defensive ends ready to contain. This could finally be the week that the Eagles offense comes together with Wentz getting his first game action in over nine months last week. I think the running game gets going, opening things up for Wentz to take multiple shots downfield. Eagles win this one fairly easily in week four.
Final Prediction: Eagles 31, Titans 17
TYLER EDGERTON (1-2)
In order for the Birds to take care of the Titans, they simply need to slow down Mariota. He, much like Carson, can extend a play at any time. The Eagles defensive line needs to start getting home a bit more. Offensively, without Ajayi, the team will need someone to step up. Last week, Wendell Smallwood stepped up, the week before it was Clement in Tampa. I don’t see Tennessee’s passing game being much of a problem and expect the Eagle’s offense to finally click for a 30+ point game.
Final Prediction: Eagles 31, Titans 20
